Responding to the Virus-Talk It Over

Wes   -

Conversation Starter:

Talk about some challenges you’ve faced due to the Coronavirus as well as some positive things that have come out of it for your family.

“’God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!’ His huge outstretched arms protect you—under them you’re perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm. Fear nothing… Not disease that prowls through the darkness… [God says:] ‘If you’ll hold on to me for dear life, I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me.'” -Psalm 91 (MSG)

Discussion Questions:

   1. Read our scripture passage from Psalm 91.

  • How does this passage help us to know God better?
  • What do you think would happen if you repeated that first sentence any time fear reared its ugly head?
  • What is the promise God makes in the “God says” part of this passage?
  • How does getting to know God help us to trust Him more?

“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” -2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

   2. Check out 2 Timothy 1:7

  • What three things has God given us to combat fear and move forward in faith?
  • Are you experiencing power, love and a sound mind through this?

   3. What part does media play in increasing our fear?

  • How would knowing the facts about the virus help alleviate fear?
  • What are the best sources of the facts?
  • Where are we likely to get faulty information?

   4. What are some things we can do to help our children cope with the disruption in their lives? How can we make this a positive experience for our whole family?
   5. How can we strengthen our relationships with our church family even when we can’t meet together?
